Thursday 27th May 1940
Dear Diary,
My back is all better. When I woke up, I heard a girls voice, a ladies voice and Mrs. Wells voice. I crept downstairs to see what it was. There was a serious looking woman, a girl about my age (maybe older) talking to Mrs. Wells. I ran upstairs and found Pia at the top, listening into to the conversation.
We both got dressed super fast. By the time we had finished, the snooty woman was gone, but the girl was still here. Mrs Wells saw us and explained,
"340,000 French and British troupes are being evacuated from Dunkirk. Vanessa-May Davidson snuck into her dad's bag and then got found. She has been assigned to this billet, therefore she will be your new roomate.

She had 2 yellow plaits at the side on her head. Plus, a few freckles here and there. a bit like me,but my hair is medium length and black , but I also have freckles

Pia has super long her that is brown.
When all 3 of us went to mine and Pia's room, we got to know Vanessa-May Davidson.
" How old are you?" Pia asked.
"I am 13." Vanessa-May said confidently.
"What do you like being called?" I questioned.
"Um.... Ann." she replied
We helped set up a bed for her. We got a spare mattress, pillow and a blanket. We put it on the opposite side of the room.
